Do I Need to Shoot Film to Use Mastin Labs Presets?

No, you do not need to shoot film to use Mastin Labs presets.

However, to get the most accurate match to film, you need to shoot some film throughout the day.

These film images are your guiding beacon when adjusting your digital files. Without your film reference images (also known as ‘Anchor Images’), you are guessing as to how film would look in a particular light.

As an alternative to shooting film with digital, you can also create a swipe folder where you have example images shot in similar light that you can use as your ‘Anchor Images.’ Just be sure the images in your swipe folder are shot on the correct film stock you are trying to match and scanned on the correct scanner (Fuji Frontier.)
